COVID-19 Related Questions

Q: Does the university have any policies in place during COVID-19?

A: Yes, face coverings are required on campus. Click here for the latest on SHSU’s COVID-19 policies and information.

Q: I am trying to buy a ticket for an event, but no two seats are together. Can I sit with members of my household?

A: For Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, seats for sale are spaced to ensure social distancing.  

Q: What channels are available for me to purchase a ticket?

A: This website is the main channel for ticket sales. We will also open the box office physical location 2 hours prior to any onsite performance. Any additional time the box office physical locations are open will be listed on the homepage.

Q: If I am having an issue creating or accessing my account and the box office is not open, what can I do?

A: Please call us at 936-294-2339 (or email us at tickets@shsu.edu) and leave a message with your issue. A member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible to help.

Q: When purchasing tickets for an onsite performance, I have an option for either an E-Ticket or Will Call. What is the recommended method?

A: We recommend E-Tickets so that you can bypass the box office window and go right into the venue when you arrive. E-tickets are delivered to your email address connected with your shsutickets.com account can be printed at home, or more often, are accessed via a smart phone. Please have your ticket ready to be scanned at the door by an usher.

Q: Does an online only stream event offer a Will Call option?

A: No. All online only content is offered via E-ticket only.

Q: As a SHSU student, how can I get a student ticket?

A: Each event is different. Log into the website (www.shsutickets.com) with your account and check the specific event page for details on what is offered for student tickets as well as information on how to reserve your ticket.

Where is the Box Office located?

The College of Arts and Media main Box Office is located in the Gaertner Performing Arts Center lobby area, room 140 (815 17th Street Huntsville, TX 77340). The Box Office also has a satellite location in the University Theatre Center (1740 Bobby K. Marks Drive Huntsville, TX 77340) lobby area, room 109 that is open during performances taking place in that building (Erica Starr Theatre or Showcase Theatre).

When is the Box Office open for business?

The home page of this website will list open hours for the Gaertner Performing Arts Center Box Office.  The Gaertner Performing Arts Center Box Office is also open 2 hours prior to any performance taking place in the Gaertner Performing Arts Center or University Theatre Center.  

The Box Office is closed during holidays and between semesters.


I want to buy Baseball/Basketball/Football etc. tickets, how do I do that?

Contact Athletics box office at 936-294-1729 or go online to gobearkats.com.

Accessibility

The College of Arts and Media at Sam Houston State University is happy to assist those with accessibility needs and has designated mobility impaired parking and seating for all events. For more information and assistance, please contact the College of Arts and Media Box Office.

Alcohol Policy

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Animals

Certified service animals or service animals in training for guests with disabilities are allowed at all Sam Houston State University facilities. All other animals are prohibited.

Bag Check

Any bag that is allowed into Sam Houston State University venues is subject to a bag check.

Cameras

Due to copy write law the use of cameras, flash photography, camcorders and other recording devices are not permitted at College of Arts and Media performances unless explicitly noted.

Cellular Phones

The use of cell phones is not permitted during performances as to not interfere with other guests’ experience. Please silence your phone for all performances.

Children

Children 2 years of age and under are not required to have a ticket for admission, provided they sit on an adult’s lap.

Drug Use / Smoking / Tobacco Use

Drug use, smoking (including electronic cigarettes) and tobacco use in any form are prohibited in all Sam Houston State University facilities. Violations will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the venue.

Exit and Re-entry

Re-entry to a performance is allowed for College of Arts and Media events unless explicitly noted. Guests must show their ticket stub/e-ticket to re-enter and an usher may delay re-entry until the appropriate pause in the performance.

Back Stage Access

Only authorized personnel with proper credentials will be permitted back stage for any College of Arts and Media event.

House Opening

House doors typically open 30 minutes prior to a performance.

Lost and Found

The lost and found is located in the College of Arts and Media Box Office located in the Gaertner Performing Arts Center.

Outside Food and Beverages

Sealed plastic bottles containing water are allowed in the venues. Alcoholic beverages, glass bottles, cans, thermoses, ice chests and coolers are prohibited. In addition, Sam Houston State University reserves the right to restrict any outside food or beverages.


Police and Security

Sam Houston State University Police officers may be onsite for performances. In the event of an emergency, call 936-294-1000 to reach Sam Houston State University Police, or call 911. Non-emergency line: 936-294-1800.

Patron Conduct

The College of Arts and Media requests your cooperation by interacting with our students, employees and other guests in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or sexist comments, or other intimidating actions will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from University property.

Tickets

Your tickets to College of Arts and Media events are revocable contracts. If the holder’s conduct endangers or disrupts a performance, staff, students or other patrons, management reserves the right to remove the ticket holder from the premises or disallow entry. All tickets are subject to availability and all sales are final. Except in the case of event cancellation, tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. In the case of event cancellation or postponement, purchaser may contact the College of Arts and Media Box Office to inquire about possible refunds or exchanges. Authorized refunds/exchanges may only be available for a limited time and ticket stubs/sales receipts may be required in order to receive the refund/exchange. Tickets to events or performances that proceed, even in the case of inclement weather, are not eligible for refund or exchange.

Unless indicated otherwise, ticket prices include all applicable taxes.
